Psychotherapy may be more affordable and accessible than you think. With CBT, you can make progress quickly with strategies you can use at home while working with a therapist on a schedule tailored to your individual needs.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” CBT is a theraputic modality, that focuses on the connection of thoughts, emotions and behaviors. In your sessions with AMES Counseling Services, you will learn to identify and change, distorted thinking patterns, the emotions associated with those distortions and the behaviors that follow. As these changes occur, you will change the lenses through which you view yourself and your world. You will begin to see those impossilbe or troubling situations, as oportunities in disguise. See how working with us, can assist you in making the changes you seek, for a happier and more successful life.

Make the most of your first appointment with these tips:

Complete Pre-Planning

If you choose to set your first appointment by phone, have a pen and paper ready as staff will inform you on what you will need to bring with you for this initial appointment, i.e. identification and insurance cards. During the call inquire about costs for services and length of the sessions.

Arrive on Time to Appointment

It’s important to arrive on time for your initial and any subsequent appointments. Therapist will be ready to meet with you, but time is important. And it will their wish to provide you with a quality and beneficial session.

Be Willing

Plan to return for a second session if the therapist recommends it. Even if you feel unsure. You may not know how your first session went. However, as you reflect on the session, you will probably begin feeling better a few days after and even better still after the second session.

Be Present

Although you may feel unsure of the process, the more helpful you are with the therapist, the easier it will be for them to help you to begin to identify areas needing attention. Strengthen your resolve to do what’s necessary to feel better.
